Ear trouble is one of the most common dive issues, knowing what to do in the moment matters. 👂
If you feel discomfort on descent: stop, ascend a few feet, and try to equalize again. Never force it.
Fullness or pain after a dive? Sit the next one out. A decongestant spray can help, but skip ear drops if there`s any chance of a ruptured eardrum.
Discharge, persistent pain, or vertigo? That`s a job for an EMT or diving physician, not a symptom to wait out.
Save this for your next trip, and tag a dive buddy who needs the reminder.

This is what a strong current looks like from above 🌊
Below, the water can be moving fast enough to carry a diver well off course.
The instinct is often to fight it, but experienced divers know that’s rarely the safest choice. Instead, swim across the current when possible, signal for assistance, or let it carry them until it loses strength.
The best way to handle a current starts before you even enter the water: check the conditions, listen to your dive briefing, and always have a plan.

Some encounters stay with you forever.
Manta rays move with a kind of effortless grace that`s impossible to forget. On World Manta Day, we celebrate these gentle giants and the ocean they call home.
The more we understand them, the more we realize just how much they`re worth protecting. 💙

Venomous ≠ Deadly.
Welcome to the first post in our series on marine life that’s often misunderstood.
The lionfish is famous for its striking appearance and its venomous spines. Those long dorsal, pelvic, and anal spines contain venom that can cause intense pain, swelling, redness, and, in some cases, nausea or dizziness if they puncture the skin.
The good news? For most healthy adults, a lionfish sting is rarely life-threatening. The venom is designed for defense, not for hunting people.
The biggest misconception is that lionfish are aggressive. They aren’t.
Lionfish don’t chase divers or attack unprovoked. Almost all injuries happen when someone accidentally touches, handles, or steps too close to one.
If you’re ever stung:
• Leave the water safely.
• Seek medical evaluation as soon as possible.
• Immerse the affected area in hot (not scalding) water around 40–45°C (104–113°F) for 30 to 90 minutes if available, as heat helps reduce the effects of the venom.
• Watch for signs of an allergic reaction or infection and seek urgent care if symptoms become severe.
The best approach is also the simplest: admire them, photograph them, and give them space.
Understanding marine life doesn’t just make us safer, it makes us better divers. 💙
