A scratch on her toe. A typhoon. A helicopter. And one phone call that changed the outcome.
When something goes wrong on a remote island in the middle of a storm, what matters is the call that gets answered. @eggertbigs
from Amun Ini Beach Resort made that call. Here`s what she has to say about the service that picked up.

If you only take one dive trip this summer, this is the month to do it.
June lines up some of the most jaw-dropping encounters on the planet, all in the same window. Pregnant whale sharks at Darwin and Wolf. Manta aggregations at Hanifaru. Curious dwarf minkes at the Ribbon Reefs. Hammerhead schools at Cocos. Adriatic visibility past 30 meters.
Save this for the next time you`re planning.

Sea turtles have been navigating these oceans for over 100 million years. They survived the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.
There are 7 species alive today. 6 are listed as threatened or endangered.
A few things worth knowing about them:
Females return to the same beach where they hatched to lay their own eggs, sometimes after travelling thousands of kilometers across open ocean. They navigate using the earth`s magnetic field.
The temperature of the sand determines the sex of their hatchlings. Warmer sand produces more females. As beaches heat up, populations are tilting heavily female.
Leatherback turtles can dive deeper than 1,000 meters and tolerate water temperatures most other reptiles cannot. They are the only living member of their family.
If you spot one underwater, give it space. Never chase, never touch, and never get between a turtle and the surface. They breathe air, and a forced descent can be fatal.
Happy World Sea Turtle Day!🐢

Being a sustainable diver isn`t about giving up the ocean. It`s about giving back to it.
9 things you can start doing on your next dive:
1. Take small trash with you, but only when it`s safe and won`t damage marine life that`s already adapted to it.
2. Buy less, repair more, support eco-friendly brands.
3. Perfect your buoyancy. Most reef damage comes from fin kicks and unweighted contact, not from intent.
4. Don`t feed marine life. Even bread and crackers can disrupt how reef fish feed and how reefs stay clean.
5. Use reef-safe sunscreen. The "reef-safe" label isn`t regulated, so look for mineral-based options with non-nano zinc oxide.
6. Choose dive shops that follow Green Fins guidelines and keep group sizes small.
7. Don`t buy shells, dried seahorses, or anything taken from the sea. Most of it is illegal to bring home anyway.
8. Reduce your seafood intake.
9. Travel less often, stay longer, and offset your flights.
